Bell ringing

Four of our churches have ringable bells. These are Jacobstow, Poundstock, Week St Mary and Whitstone. Treneglos has four bells which are currently unringable although there are plans to repair, rehang and augment them to six in the future.

See the calendar for details of practice nights.

Poundstock and Week St Mary ring regularly for services, with Whitstone andJacobstow ringing for special occasions. All the ringers in the Benefice are welcome in each other's towers and all four belong to the Truro Diocesan Guid of Ringers with Week St Mary, Jacobstow and Whitstone also being members of the Tamar Valley Guild of Ringers.

Several of the ringers have taken part in the ART (Association of Ringing Teachers) Teaching course and all towers are able to provide tuition for anyone interested in learning to ring tower bells,

Please visit your local tower to see ringing  and talk to the captain of the tower should you be interested in learning this interesting, challenging and sociable activity, it is a long term commitment but will provide you with ample opportunities to visit other towers, meet other ringers and to help with showing that there is a lively church community and working to call people to join it.
